Tug-of-War

Sometimes you have to pull back. It’s just that simple. You have to pull to win the fight.

Living life is like playing a round of tug-of-war from time to time. If life isn’t continually pulling you from one end with many hard tugs that include tumbles, and falls, then it’s pulling you from another. So, here’s a simple lesson: when lifes’ tugs are so vicious, and you find yourself at the intersection between you standing and falling, you have to tug back. There’s also the when and if you stumble, tumble and fall.. And when and if that time approaches, you get back in the line and continue to pull until you breakthrough. We know how painful tug-of-war can be-the blisters from pulling the thick rope, the exhaustion from the continual pull, the bruising from the falls we take when we slip… BUT, we also know how rewarding it is when we give it our best and we pull through into victory. This is what we want-victory, right? But sometimes between us and our victory is the rough and exhausting battle of tough obstacles. Obstacles will always be, but defeat doesn’t have to be; it’s an option. Defeat is deciding not to tug the rope at all or deciding to let the rope go in the midst of war. The weight of the circumstances, the obstacles, the struggles that life will inevitably bring has to be pulled-has to be tugged-so that the other side-the victorious side-of the circumstances, obstacles, and struggles can be seen… You have to be the one to pull that weight. Whether you’re standing in war with family or friends by your side, or standing in war alone, you have to pull the weight. You must pull until you see your breakthrough.

Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.”

  1. The part right in the middle was my fave. You gotta pull through. No effort, no headway, regardless of the obstacles.
